Should You Brush or Floss Your Teeth First?

Posted .

You know that brushing and flossing your teeth are both important, but do you know which should come first? Would you be surprised to learn that the order doesn’t really matter? In reality, it’s far more important that you brush and floss properly.

As you may know, you should brush twice a day—but did you know that you should remember to brush for two minutes at a time? You should also remember to brush in circular motions to remove as much plaque from your teeth as possible. Sadly, if you don’t remove your plaque, it will turn into tartar. Sadly, you’ll need help from a dental professional to help you remove it.

However, while knowing proper brushing technique is important, you’ll also need to know how to floss correctly. For example, did you know that you’ll need to use at least a foot and a half long piece of floss each time? You should also remember to floss each tooth with a different part of floss to stop bacteria from spreading in your mouth. You should also remember to move your floss up and down, rather than back and forth. Finally, please remember to floss gently. Otherwise, you could accidentally damage your gums.
